BNSF Sets Monthly Joint-Line Tonnage Record in November

BNSF loaded a monthly record 15.3 million tons of coal on Wyoming’s Joint Line in November of this year, breaking the previous record of 15.2 million tons set in September 2008.
BNSF loaded a total of 23.8 million tons of coal in the Powder River Basin (PRB), including Wyoming and Montana mines, during November, matching tonnage loaded in November 2007.
Average daily train loadings in the PRB for November of this year totaled 54.6 trains per day, up from an average of 54 trains per day in November 2007. November 2008 loadings included a record 34.6 average trains per day loaded on the Joint Line.
Year-to-date through November, BNSF has loaded 251.9 million tons of coal in the PRB, up 2.4 percent from the 246 million tons loaded through the same period in 2007.
BNSF has loaded a total daily average of 51.5 trains per day in the PRB through November 2008, 2.6 percent above the average 50.2 trains per day loaded during the first 11 months of 2007.
