Dillon Magers Recognized for Environmental Achievements
2009-11-16
Dillon Magers was recognized at a recent Association of American Railroads (AAR) event as BNSF's nominee for the Professional Environmental Excellence Award.
Magers, manager of environmental operations for BNSF in Springfield, Mo., earned his professional engineering license and is a valuable resource during derailments, floods, spills, landslides and other disasters. He ensured that environmental compliance was maintained at a high level during the catastrophic floods of 2007 and 2008. He spent more than 10 weeks in the field making sure that grade and track replacement and repair were performed in an environmentally efficient way. Magers personally supervised restoration work on public and private properties and utilities impacted by BNSF's recovery efforts. He also has been instrumental in the success of BNSF's environmental information management system.
Magers first joined BNSF as a summer intern while still in college. He has been employed full-time in railroad environmental programs since his college graduation.
